Contraceptive choices

There are many factors to discuss with a woman when helping her choose the right contraceptive method - her sex life, work life and family life are all important.

Contraceptive methods can be divided into the following categories:

Hormonal contraceptives: Oral contraceptives, contraceptive implant, contraceptive injection, contraceptive patch and intrauterine system (IUS)

Non-hormonal contraceptives: Intrauterine device (IUD), barrier methods (including male condom, female condom and diaphragm/cap), spermicide and natural family planning
